StewCraft Blog – August

Written by Krazy-Stew

Let me preface this by thanking you all for your continued patience with me as I continue to fumble through life and try to get something out for you guys. I can’t imagine how much of that you have to keep putting up with me, and for that I am grateful. That said…

I really thought I’d have stuff done, huh.

In my defense, I actually have a genuine reason to have not gotten as much done this month – much of my focus over the past month has been dedicated to either job hunting or housing hunting – that’s right, I’m gonna be moving soon. I hope this helps my case as to why not much has been done, though I’d still like to go over what I HAVE done so I’m not completely leaving you guys in the dark.

The Website is going slowly. This is probably what I’ve spent the least amount of time on this month, though to say I’ve done nothing would be incorrect. I have assets ready to go for all the pages, and it’s just a matter of writing them (and, for a specific page, getting custom code running) to get this done. Realistically, I probably should have put a bigger emphasis on this for myself since I could have gotten this done sooner, but now I know.

As for the video – the whole thing is written, and I’d easily be able to edit it. The part I’m stuck on right now is the production itself – finding time to record my voice, and finding footage. Once these two items are done, the video should be out. I have two more I want to make after this, but given the impending move, I’m going to try to limit myself to the one just for now.

And finally, Project Lovey… hoo boy. This game has been my guinea pig of sorts in terms of coding, to find what works and what doesn’t in a larger scale game. And I have just found that the way I’ve implemented a pretty major mechanic doesn’t work in a larger scale game at all – and to fix this would require a major rewrite of the code. So, that’s where I’m at – rewriting a bunch of the code. I know I said I would most likely have stuff to actually show by now, but this rewrite is extremely important to making this game function as smoothly as possible.

So that’s where we’re at. Hopefully once I move we’ll be able to move forward more quickly, especially since I have a new, less stressful job. Here’s to hoping, right?
